Arts Ignite developed the Creative Activity Kit initiative, a technology-free arts program for young people ages 4 months to 16 years old, in order to meet the continuing needs of our youth during the Covid-19 Pandemic. I worked as a Teaching Artist creating visual arts-based activities and video workshops for Arts Ignite to send to their partner organizations across New York City.

Creative Activity Kits

Since 2021, I have collaborated with Arts Ignite in order to distribute over
4,000 Creative Activity Kits to youth across New York City, spanning all five boroughs. The kits include activities for a wide age and developmental range,
as well as multiple languages, meeting students where they are to create something special.

Creative Kit Contributions

I created a series of grayscale printables to be included in the Arts Ignite Creative Kits. Based on community needs and Arts Ignite’s programming I focused on creating simple prompted worksheets for students to use in order to facilitate building friendships, setting goals, and practicing self care.

STEAM Activities

SELf Reflections

a SEL-based 7 day journal requested by community members receiving creative kits from Arts Ignite.

This printable journal provides students with prompts and guidelines in order to complete a personal reflection.

Innovators

a STEAM coloring book requested by community members receiving creative kits from Arts Ignite.

This printable coloring book provides students with coloring pages, opportunities to learn about important innovators in science, technology, engineering, arts and math. A personal reflection space with prompts was also added to give students the opportunity to respond to what they learned.

Arts-based Activities

In collaboration with Laiqa Mannan and Ana Holschuh, we crafted a series of arts-based lesson plans as Teaching Artists at Arts Ignite. We developed a lesson plan, designed worksheets, and sourced supplies to bring to students at WIN (Women In Need) shelters across New York City.

Our Dear Body workshop was a series we initiated in order to give students at WIN the opportunity to express feelings regarding body image. We developed a collection of worksheets and lesson plans using modeling clay as a way for students to self reflect on their feelings.
